Jousting

Provençal jousting is a tournament, on water between two players on their own boat, on top of a special raised plate form called in Provençal « la teinteine ».

The goal is to send his opponent to the water with a spear.

Each player (knight) carries a protective wooden plastron and holds in the left hand a baton protecting him against the adversary’s lance.

Do you know it? Provençal jousting is considered as the most violent of the 5 french jousting practice because the knight doesn’t wait for being touched by the opponent: he rushes first at the adversary.

Jousting depends from the French Jousting Federation, which has its own championship and French cup.
